CWG Foundation
Welcome to the CWG Foundation
CWG Group is committed to engaging and supporting the local communities we work in.
To us, Corporate Social Responsibility is about investing money back into communities to help improve the economy, provide opportunities that benefit and support the local community and reduce environmental impact to benefit public health and wellbeing. Social value is embedded throughout our company and forms an integral part of what we do.
Here are some of our recent Foundation projects.
We’ve joined Lister Hospital’s ‘Pony Club’ to help spread a little joy to patients and staff.
Together with Bauder Flat Roofs, GRM Roofing Co Ltd and Pexhurst Services Limited, CWG Group Ltd are proud supporters of the East and North Hertfordshire Hospitals’ Charity in order to to fund therapy pony visits at Lister Hospital for a whole year.
The therapeutically trained pony visits bring much needed stress relief and joy to patients and staff alike who spend most of their time within the confines of hospital. James Utting of Bauder said: “It has been my pleasure to bring together what I have cheekily named the ‘Pony Club’ – a collective of charity-orientated businesses who are all passionate about giving back in their local community. The therapy pony service, organised by the hospital charity, ticks every single box when it comes to making a difference to those in need and I think I speak on behalf of all the businesses on how proud we all are to be partners. Having seen first-hand how much joy the ponies bring to patients when they arrive on the ward, it’s wonderful to know that our funding will spread even more smiles at our local hospital.”
Chris Grint said: “Supporting the funding of therapy ponies at Lister Hospital is not just a charitable act for us at CWG Group; it’s a heartfelt commitment to the well-being of our community. At CWG Group, we believe in nurturing the places we call home, and Stevenage holds a special place in our hearts.”
Bethany McNeil, Head of Public Fundraising at the East and North Herts Hospitals Charity added: “It costs £200 to fund a single pony visit and the team visit the wards – both adult and children’s wards – every three weeks. Thanks to incredible businesses and supporters donating to the service, the charity are able to fund the visits all year“.
Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea Training Hub
We’re so proud to play a part in the new Employment and Training Hub on Lancaster West Estate. It’s great to see the wider impact our work and support has in local communities.
The dedicated space was co-designed and co-delivered in collaboration with Lancaster West Residents’ Association (LWRA) and other key stakeholders.
The new digital room will facilitate opportunities for brilliant training provision, creative courses, workshops, and employability support for local residents across North Kensington. It will also enable residents to get online and use the brand-new suite of PCs available.
CWG proudly helped fund the space through our social value contribution.
5% Club
We are proud members of the 5% Club. The Club exists to help its members and all employers increase further the number, quality and range of earn & learn opportunities across the UK.
Our two full-time apprentices, Isobel and Shay, are currently undertaking BSc (HONS) Quantity Surveying degrees at Anglia Ruskin University and the University of Westminster respectively.
Whilst working at CWG Group, they have both been completing coursework and assessments, which will see them becoming fully-fledged members of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS).
Isobel is due to complete her course in 2025 and Shay in 2027.
We’re already so proud of what they have achieved, keep up the great work guys!
CWG supports homeless charity’s roof
CWG is proud to have helped homelessness charity Emmaus Hertfordshire replace its leaky, dilapidated roof.
Emmaus Hertfordshire supports up to 36 people who have experienced homelessness by giving them a home, meaningful work in a social enterprise and an opportunity to regain lost self-esteem to help rebuild their lives.
The extensive work took one month to complete and has helped Emmaus continue its amazing community work.
Duncan Lewis, Chief Executive of Emmaus Hertfordshire said: “We would like to say a huge thank you to CRASH and the three construction companies, Bauder, CWG Group and Extreme Scaffolding, for carrying out this vital work to our roof.”
Leap of Faith
CWG colleagues David and Liz took part in Brent Council’s ‘Leap of Faith’ challenge this year. The event saw colleagues from the industry take to the 160ft crane in Arena Square, next to Wembley Stadium, to either abseil or bungee down to the ground, raising money for the Jason Roberts Foundation who invest in local communities to change the outcomes of the most marginalised communities in the United Kingdom and the Caribbean.
A total of £6,462 was raised, £860 of which was collected by our very own CWG Team! Well done to all the brave souls who took part for such a great cause.
